The natural impulse is to not leave the house today, at all, but a part of me really wants to bundle up and walk to the corner store. I need quarters for laundry, and some food, and what’s more, I’d like to live in that cold for a few minutes. Just for a minute, just to see how it feels. That way, the next time I watch Planet Earth, the sense of being at the South Pole or atop a Himalayan mountain will be fresh in my mind.
