Like Rabin, the writer linked, I too am something of a culture geek, but had no experience with Watchmen until I saw the premiere and read some of the hype, and so on. I finished it last weekend, and despite being a complete comic book n00b — and needing a chapter or two to get used to the pacing of the format — god damn it, Watchmen is fucking amazing. I’m reading it again.
Update: Oh, and for some reason, I’m slightly self-conscious about reading the book this late in the game. I don’t want to be a late comer, or one of those people that waits to buy books until after I’ve seen the bastardized movie version, but in this instance I plead guilty. Oh well.
