I’m going to have to restrain myself from blogging every new New Yorker thing that I like every week, but this story about the way doctors behave in the current health care environment, and how those decisions lead to waste (and, in some places, efficiency) is very good.
The bad news? Doctors overprscribe and overtest because there’s money in it. The good news is that fixing this stuff could make efficient health care reform possible; our problems aren’t completely intractable.
I’d rather have an Oliver Sacks illness personally.
